Directions to Hempstead Lake State Park

FROM EASTERN LONG ISLAND:  Long Island Exwy/I495 west, exit onto Seaford Oyster Bay Exwy/ NY-135 South.Take NY-135 to Southern State Pkwy West. Take Southern State to exit 18 Eagle Ave. Take Eagle Ave for 1 mile. Turn right into Parking Field 1 in Hempstead Lake State Park. Stay to the left in the parking lot. Boats will be rigged on the grass.

FROM NEW ENGLAND: Take the Connecticut Turnpike South to the Throgs Neck Bridge to Long Island.

FROM UPSTATE NEW YORK: Take the NY State Thruway South across the Tappen Zee Bridge and into New York City. Take the Cross Bronx Expressway to the Throgs Neck Bridge to Long Island.

FROM THE THROGS NECK BRIDGE SOUTH:  The Throgs Neck Bridge will lead onto the Clearview Expressway South (Route 295). Take the Clearview South to the end (Be careful, sudden ending). Turn left onto Hillside Ave (Rt. 25). Go East for 0.6 miles. Turn right onto Springfield Blvd. and go South for 1.2 miles. Turn left onto Hempstead Ave (Rt. 24) and go east for 5.0 miles. (Note the street will change name to Hempstead Turnpike Rt. 24 in Nassau Co.). Turn right onto Westminster Road and go South for 0.2 miles. This will be the first traffic light. Get into the center of the 3 lanes and go straight ahead. This will be Woodfield Road. Go south on Woodfield Rd for 1.2 miles to the 2nd traffic light. Turn left onto Eagle Ave and take Eagle Ave for 1 mile. Turn right into Parking Field 1 in Hempstead Lake State Park. Stay to the left in the parking lot. Boats will be rigged on the grass. This is at Exit 18 South on the Southern State Parkway.
