He continues to compete with Sagamore Rowing Association whenever he is not coaching St. Anthony’s.

Liz Brennan, Varsity Girls Coach:  E-mail

St. Anthony’s Crew Team is glad to see the return of Coach Liz Brennan after a successful national collegiate career. Coach Liz began rowing at St. Anthony's High School in 1998. During her 4 years at St. Anthony’s she won the New York States and the Head of the Connecticut.  She also rowed on the U.S. Junior National Development team, and placed at the prestigious Henley and US Nationals. Coach Liz went to Michigan State on a full athletic scholarship. As a Spartan rower she stroked the varsity four to two Big Ten Championships in 2004 and 2005. She also earned a 2nd place finish at the South Central Championships and a 8th place finish at NCAA's in 2005.  In her Senior year Coach Liz placed 5th in the grand finals of the NCAA Championships while her team made it the best NCAA standing in MSU history.  Each year she received the Academic All Big Ten award.

Coach Liz began honing her coaching skills as a volunteer novice coach at MSU. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a concentration in History.  She is working on her masters in Education. She has a lot to teach our rowers.

Marcus Avery, Novice Girls Coach:  E-mail

Marcus comes to us through the same Hofstra University pipeline as Coach Chris.  He rowed three years for Hofstra with Coach Chris and coached their novice his senior year.  After graduating from Hofstra with his B.B.A in management, Coach Marcus plans on attending law school in the Fall of 2008.  He comes to us with many years experience as a camp counselor, tennis instructor, and resident assistant and looks forward to using the skills gained there to help our novice flourish.

Mark Liegey, Coaching Coordinator:  E-mail

Coach Mark has been with St. Anthony’s Crew since the fall of 2006, working first as a novice men’s coach and then a coach coordinator between the coaches and the club board.  Prior to joining St. Anthony’s, Coach Mark was a head coach for five years with Half Hollow Hills Crew Club.  Coach Mark began rowing himself back in 1988 where he rowed for three years at Manhattan College.

Outside of crew, Coach Mark works as a professional engineer for Cameron Engineering, located in Woodbury, Long Island.  In his spare time, he spends time with his wife, Kathy, and his three young boys, Christopher, Peter and Terence.  Keep your eyes open at the boathouse or at crew functions, Coach Mark usually has at least one of his boys in tow.
